Sustainability

Save Soil - Save Environment

Sustainability is in our DNA. We believe & follow the concept of “Devara Kaadu / Sacred Forest” which has been an integral part of our culture since ancient times. We merely not say that we practice sustainability, but we really mean it.

We try to continue the relationship between the environment and organisms on earth. We always try to make the most efficient use of renewable resources and on-farm resources and integrate them.

Blos Showers Agro take the most care of cultivation, keeping soil health our top priority.
We believe healthy soils provide habitats for thousands of different species of fungi, bacteria, and invertebrates, which work together to drive the Earth’s carbon, nitrogen, and water cycles, producing the nutrients and food we require to survive.

What we do for sustainability?

  • Distribution: 10,000 free fruit plants and 10,000 forest tree saplings to farmer partners.
  • Rainwater harvesting: 100 % harvesting of rain within the factory premises.
  • Water & fertilizer management: we cover about 80 % of our farms with drip irrigation & mulching, which lead to an increase in productivity per acre by 50–60 % and a decrease in production cost per kg by 30%.
  • Waste media management:  100% ETP treated and used for afforestation around factory premises
  • Reduction in concrete usage to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the factory.
  • Converting vehicles to electric vehicles: 25% / annum in lower-tonnage vehicles.
  • Carbon credit: We help reduce about 240 tons of carbon dioxide by planting 10000 trees every year.
  • Rain Forest Alliance: In process of getting an RA certificate to 10% of repeat farmers.
  • Sustainable mobility: use of battery-operated e bicycles to commute within the factory premises and in and around.
  • Using LED lights to minimize power consumption.
  • Renewable energy: 25% lighting with solar.

Natural Friendly Pest Control

We thrive to minimise the use of pesticides by adopting multicropping—sowing the seeds of the African tall variety of Maize all along the border four weeks before the sowing of Gherkins, using protein baits and pheromone traps to attract and manage the male fruit flies by mating abruption.

  • Ethical labor practices and social and environmental equity.
  • Promoting vermicomposting beds to farmers.
  • Prepared compost beds for selected farmers.
